Hello September! Along with changing weather, each new season brings with it, new trends. From trending fall fashion and home décor to new seasonal foods and health crazes, a trend is essentially a movement from one place to the next. A change in season is the perfect time to implement new health trends that focus on wellness of the moment. Health trends are movements that allow us to incorporate a specific way of life or lifestyle to help us reach and accomplish new health goals. As temperatures start to cool down and kids return to school it is especially important for us to focus on habits that allow us to boost immunity. The human immune system is complex and influenced by many factors such as diet, lifestyle, emotions, and sleep habits. A balanced diet consisting of a range of vitamins and minerals, combined with healthy lifestyle factors like adequate sleep, regular exercise, meditation, and the reduction of environmental toxins, effectively prime the immune system to fight infection and disease. A disciplined fall season prepares us for the holidays and winter months to come. Listed below are some health hacks to help boost your immune system this fall.

1. DRINKING MINERAL DENSE WATER

Staying hydrated has a slew of health benefits, from optimizing your metabolic rate and bringing more oxygen to your cells to anti-aging benefits such as the elimination of body waste. But not all water is created equal. The water you consume should be naturally occurring mineral dense water or Spring water. Mineral Dense water is bottled at its source and contains minerals particularly calcium and magnesium that are essential for proper body function and overall hydration.  When we demineralized water or purify it with modalities such as reverse osmosis our intestines must add electrolytes through a process called Osmosis and these minerals are pulled from the body’s reserve potentially causing our bodies to become mineral deficient. Everyone should consume at least half their body weight in ounces daily to properly hydrate cells. You will also want to store your water in a plastic free container such as glass or stainless steel.

2. ENVIROMENTAL TOXINS

Many plastic containers contain bisphenol A, or BPA. This chemical is a hormone disruptor and very hard to flush out of our bodies. It is also almost impossible to remove from our environment. Research estimates that our bodies process over one million toxins each day. Toxins in our bodies come from pesticides sprayed on our food, coffee and wine during farming, Teflon from our cookware, added chemicals in our cosmetics, fluoride in our toothpaste and added bleach and chlorine in our water. All these toxins can put a burden our bodies so our first line of defense should be to reduce exposure and second should be to detox them from the body once they are there. At Vibrant Skin Bar we frequently recommend the use of Osmosis Wellness Skin Defense capsules, daily consumption of Chia seeds and/or chlorophyll in your water and regular Infrared Sweat Body Wraps to assist in this process. Osmosis Skin Defense is a powerful supplement that contains activated charcoal and DIM to binds and remove heavy metals, estrogen toxins, pesticides, plastics, and food preservatives. This supplement may help transform your health, restore hormone balance, clear skin, and strengthen the immune system for a healthier you. This detox supplement should be taken at least quarterly, and some may need it on a more regular basis.

3. EMF EXPOSURE

Electromagnetic radiation surrounds us in everyday life from sources like our cell phones, Wi-Fi routers and microwaves. Some forms of electromagnetic radiation are known to be harmful, and other forms are more controversial. Did you know that talking on your cell phone for one hour may lower the antioxidants in your saliva by up to 25%? Saliva is critical for many reasons, including its purpose to fight pathogens and it is one of our first lines of defense against microbial infections entering through the mouth. It is recommended to use your speaker whenever possible and eat SUPER FOODS with high anti-oxidant levels to try and replenish what is lost. Not only does EMF exposure have thermal and biological impacts on our bodies, but electronic devices emit positively charged ions as well. High concentrations of positive ions, also known as oxidants or free radicals can disrupt our bodies’ natural frequency. One of the best ways to counteract this imbalance is to become one with the earth with a practice known as “grounding”. Grounding is done by standing barefoot on the ground allowing our cells to have direct contact with the surface of the Earth to move negatively charged ions from the earth into our bodies. This practice can help neutralize the positively charged oxidants and help increase our immune fighting capabilities. At Vibrant Skin Bar we love encouraging the practice of “grounding” and encourage our patients to become “grounded” before a treatment by incorporating a copper footbath in the beginning of our signature facial. Copper Basins have been known for generations for their healing properties and ionized copper was used in ancient Egypt as a way to purify water. Simply soaking feet in a copper bowl encourages the removal of negative Ions, stimulates a healthier immune system, assists with joint pain and relieves tension with increased blood flow.

4. SUPER FOODS

Super Foods are power foods that are abundant in minerals and vitamins. Your daily calorie consumption should be jammed backed with the nutrients and food that has high vibrational energy so that the body can function optimally. Nutrition is an ever-evolving science, and we have come a long way since the days of Worls War I when the banana was named the first Super Food. Here is a few of the Vibe Tribe’s favorite super foods: Avocado, Turmeric, Pomegranate seeds, Goji Berries, Acai, Camu Camu, Raw Cacao, Chlorella, Spirulina, Hemp, Maca, Kale, and so many more. Think of this list as superheroes for your body.

5. INCREASED OXYGEN LEVELS

Did you know that 90% of our body’s energy comes from Oxygen? Did you also know that most bacteria and viruses cannot live in a well oxygenated environment? Oxygen is the most important nutrition of our cells. Every function in our body is dependent on oxygen and it is the power source within our bodies. There are five simple ways to increase the oxygen levels in our body. They are- drinking water, breathing fresh air in nature, eating iron rich foods, exercise and deep breathing through your nose. It is very important that we are breathing through our nose and not are mouth since our nose is our filtration system for environmental toxins and viruses. When we breathe through our mouth we also may take in too much carbon dioxide causing the brain to trigger the anodes to press against the nose and stop the intake of oxygen allowing for about 18% oxygen intake and possibly causing snoring, fatigue and attention deficit. For those patients needing a little help raising their oxygen levels we suggest the additional of Osmosis Wellness Immune Activator. This unique supplement contains stabilized oxygen molecules in the form of Ozone and may give you the boost you need.

All of these health trends are very easy to incorporate into your daily lives and can give you and your body added balance to live a life full of Vibrancy and well-being. Here’s to Fall!
