Spring into Happiness

Spring is in the air! While all seasons have their attributes, spring is clearly the most loveable season. The appearance of more sunlight, moderate temperatures, the sounds of birds returning, plants in bloom and the breath of fresh air make this energetic shift so welcoming. Many may find this season to be a motivator for change, as the sunshine and warmer weather tends to reenergize us and inspire action. Whether that action is for physical health, mental health, or for reconnecting with friends and family, springtime will undoubtedly improve overall mood and energies. Spring cleaning has been traced back to ancient times and to this day many of us look forward to the ritual of cleaning out the dust and clutter to free up space for new fresh beginnings. This is also a great time to use the increased energy and inspiration to spring clean and declutter situations, habits, people and thoughts that no longer serve us. One of our deepest-rooted desires is to live a fulfilled and happy life. Many of us may feel that we have lost touch with the things that can make us happy. It sometimes seems nearly impossible to balance a successful career, family life and social life while also keeping your health and well-being stable.

Truthfully, living your best life is within your grasp. You can learn to embrace happiness and achieve inner peace simply by changing and incorporating some healthy habits into your life. Sometimes living up to your fullest potential is just about taking the time for self-care. Self-care is not vanity, it is sanity so prioritize yourself and your health. Studies show to achieve true happiness we need to obtain a balance of four aspects of our lives, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual.

Here are 4 tips to create a great roadmap to authentically living your best life.

Emotional Balance

This begins with self-love, being kind to yourself, being aware of your emotions and your stress levels. This can be done by taking little moments to meditate, journal, and self-reflect. Do not suppress feelings, work through them and don’t be afraid to ask for help from a friend, mentor or professional.

Physical Activity

Spring is the perfect time to start a new fitness habit. Review your schedule and pencil in time to get physical; yoga, a spin class or even a daily walk with a friend. Being physical is not only going to make you look and feel better, but it is a great way to relieve stress and clear your mind.

Intellectual Stimulation

Intellectual wellness includes habits that encourage learning and stimulate curiosity. It is important to explore new ideas, new perspectives and develop new coping skills so that you can live a well-rounded life. Curiosity is also important because it motivates you to try new things and develop a better understanding of how you see the relationship between yourself and others.

Spiritual Practice

Finding balance in the spiritual aspects of our lives allows us to reset who we are and get in touch with our intentions and life purpose. Take 15 minutes each day to sit quietly and shut off the noise of the world. It is in this space that we can listen to our inner guidance and maintain a path of peace, clarity and harmony.
